TORONTO, March 10, 2021 — Think Research Corporation (“Think“) (TSXV: THNK), a company focused on transforming healthcare through integrated digital health software solutions, today announced it is further expanding its telemedicine software offering for mental health providers, with a new integration that enables them to conduct virtual cognitive and neurofunction assessments — a vital step in effectively diagnosing and treating brain disorders remotely.
Think has partnered with BrainFx to integrate its leading comprehensive Virtual Cognitive Assessment (VCA) tool within Think’s VirtualCare telemedicine software. This partnership means that more people with brain disorders or mild cognitive dysfunction, including stroke, early dementia or attention deficit disorder and other mental illnesses, can be securely assessed, virtually, by healthcare providers.
The addition of this new functionality is expected to grow the number of mental health professionals using Think’s software and will also make the telemedicine platform even more effective for many of the hundreds of allied and mental health providers already using the solution through the company’s ongoing partnerships with the Ontario Psychological Association, Ontario Association of Social Workers and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.
Think Research’s CEO Sachin Aggarwal said “Our VirtualCare telemedicine software does more than simply allow a healthcare provider to see their patient remotely; it brings vital clinical information to their fingertips. Our partnership with BrainFx is a fantastic example of what that looks like in practice.
“By working with BrainFx, mental health providers using VirtualCare are now able to access BrainFx’s assessment portal, which includes assessments that measure 30 cognitive skills plus psychosocial, physical and sensory information. This library of knowledge is rooted in evidence and best-practice, meaning more Canadians with mild to moderate brain disorders can get the support they need quickly and securely, through a virtual visit.”
BrainFx co-founder Tracy Milner said“BrainFx assessments are designed to detect what other cognitive tests can miss by measuring cognitive skills with real-world activities that can easily transfer into practical recommendations to improve a person’s everyday life. BrainFx’s Virtual Cognitive Assessment is purpose-built for better understanding a person’s functional cognition through a telemedicine platform — which is incredibly important as so much mental health support is now virtual.”
“We are thrilled to integrate our leading platform within VirtualCare so that more Canadians can get comprehensive mental health support and treatment plans.”
BrainFx’s assessment tool is used by more than 1,000 mental health providers and allied health professionals, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists, many of whom are based in hospitals and community clinics. BrainFx’s virtual portal has been incredibly valuable throughout the pandemic in order for healthcare providers to continue assessments remotely.
Since March 2020, the user base of Think’s VirtualCare platform has surged. Think has seen demand for its telemedicine software grow by 633 per cent year-over-year and more than 1,000 Canadian healthcare professionals now use Think’s telemedicine software, including in more than 100 long-term care homes across the country.
